After losing a beloved sister who had struggled with lupus for many years, then losing a mother in 2012, everyday life became much harder. The memories remained, but so did the loneliness.
In 2014, while looking for a companion for Miko, a beloved dog who was often home alone, Gigi appeared online. At the time she was called Ana Beth and was in South Dakota while her future owner was in California. One day later, the adoption was arranged.
When Gigi arrived, she was unbelievably tiny. After looking through her documents, a remarkable detail was discovered: she was born on May 6, 2014 — the day the family had lost their mother.
